SMOKEY POINT – Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon and Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics in Arlington will partner on a new 42,000-square foot facility in Smokey Point to provide primary and specialty health care services.

The two public district hospitals have partnered since 2007 on cancer care as the Skagit Valley Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center at Arlington is located within the recently expanded Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics.

The new project, set for completion in late 2011, will bring the two hospitals together in a joint venture to operate a multi-specialty clinic with the goal of improving access to care for residents of north Snohomish County. Physicians will include primary care providers such as pediatricians, internal medicine, family practice, women’s health and occupational medicine, along with specialists such as cardiologists, and gastroenterologists.

In addition to physician clinics, the new facility will include diagnostic imaging services, such as MRI, X-Ray, CT and ultrasound, along with laboratory services, a pharmacy and urgent care.

The joint venture represents efforts by both hospitals to work collaboratively to benefit the availability of quality health care for residents of both hospital districts.

“We see great benefit to working together with Cascade Valley Hospital on this project to enhance access to care for patients in the region,” said Gregg Davidson, Chief Executive Officer of Skagit Valley Hospital. “This allows us to bring more providers to the area while sharing the financial burden of the project to best use our capital resources and maximize the benefit to the people of the communities we serve.”

The new facility continues Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics’ presence in Smokey Point.

“Cascade Valley Hospital has operated a physicians’ clinic in Smokey Point for many years. The replacement of that facility and the increased services offered in Smokey Point are a great enhancement to our newly expanded and renovated hospital in Arlington,” said W. Clark Jones, Chief Executive Officer and Administrator of Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics. “This new multi-specialty clinic and our continuing partnership with Skagit Valley Hospital will allow Cascade Valley Hospital to offer additional specialty services to our growing community.”
