“I enjoy the challenge of helping patients feel and function better. Sometimes there are immediate results in pain relief and mobility. Sometimes progress is slower, but getting to know my patients and watching them improve is what I most enjoy.”
Kaarsten R. Lang, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon with Skagit Northwest Orthopedics in Mount Vernon. Her focus includes knee and shoulder surgery, joint replacement, arthroscopy and hand surgery.
Dr. Lang grew up amidst the medical profession, watching her father practice orthopedic surgery before heading off to earn her own degree. After completing her training at Loma Linda University, Dr. Lang practiced in California for two years before returning to the Skagit Valley to practice orthopedic surgery with her late father, Dr. Robert Lang.
Dr. Lang and her husband, Dr. Lester Richards, enjoy spending time at home together with their son and daughter. She also enjoys reading and collecting antique quilts. When she gets a little time off, Dr. Lang loves to travel, ski and scuba dive. Given the chance to choose a career over again, she wouldn’t change a thing. The opportunity to help her patients improve is something she would not trade for anything.
Dr. Lang is a Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Washington State Medical Association, the Skagit-Island County Medical Association and the Ruth Jackson Society.
