Volunteer Services

The Department of Volunteer Services at Skagit Valley Hospital coordinates the activities of over 425 volunteers in support of the hospital’s operations. Our volunteers come from all walks of the life and communities throughout our service area. Many volunteers work in the hospital, wearing the familiar blue vests and smocks that have become a fixture here. They may work in areas such as nuclear medicine or radiology, at one of our information desks, as an escort or supporting families in our surgical services unit. Other volunteers serve through membership in one of our guilds or auxiliary. For more information about our volunteer opportunities or guilds and auxiliary, please call Steve Schultz at 360-814-2142 or email volunteer@skagitvalleyhospital.org.

Skagit Valley Hospital's volunteer programs

Skagit Valley Hospital Guild
The Skagit Valley Hospital Guild provides funding for many special projects each year. The Guild meets the first Monday of each month at Skagit Valley Hospital.

Skagit Valley Hospital Auxiliary
The Skagit Valley Hospital Auxiliary supports the activities of our Regional Cancer Center, providing welcome bags for the comfort of our cancer patients.

J.E.M. Guild
The J.E.M. Guild provides support for pediatric patients and their families while at the hospital. Carrying out fundraising activities throughout the year, the J.E.M. guild purchases toys, games, books and more for the enjoyment of our young patients. The J.E.M. guild meets the second Wednesday of each month.

Junior Medical Volunteers
The junior Medical Volunteer program is for 14 to 18-year-olds who want to volunteer in a health care setting. The program allows young people an excellent opportunity to explore the culture of a health care organization while giving service to their community. Each year, Skagit Valley Hospital awards scholarships to five outstanding Junior Medical Volunteers. For more information or to become a member please call 360-814-2142.
